You can remove a ... By: wishongolfvideo. on 01 Mar 10, 18:20:28 You can remove a shaft and cut more from the tip end to increase stiffness, but you cannot lower the flex of an existing shaft. That requires buying a new shaft with the softer flex to install in the clubhead. As Yannerson said, it is best to find a good Clubmaker in your area with whom you can work to be properly fit for the shaft and all other key parameters of the clubs.

When an existing ... By: wishongolfvideo. on 01 Mar 10, 18:19:11 When an existing club is cut shorter, the swingweight of the club always drops by 3 swt points for each ½ length reduction. If you cut your driver from 45.5 to 44 in length, you would have to add 9 swt points of lead tape on the head. When doing this, the lead tape is most typically put on the back of the head, applying it all the way around the back of the head.
Hope this helps and thanks for your interest!

I just got low torque driver shaft, and a little stiffer to fit my swing. I like it, but a big difference from my "off the shelf" standard stiff shaft I used before.

That's why I'm getting fit for drivers, because every driver in the last 2 years hasn't worked well at all for me. I got lucky for irons, but even those need to be gripped down on to get a decent lie angle for me. This man is a true genius!

Custom fitting for ... By: wishongolfvideo. on 01 Mar 10, 18:21:37 Custom fitting for the best lengths, lofts, total weight, swingweight, grip size for a beginning golfer will make it easier to learn the proper swing moves, from which more consistency comes. Once you get to a point where your shot mistakes are a little more consistent, then the rest of the fitting elements become more important.

Great info. ... By: holdemstacy. on 11 Aug 09, 13:21:13 Great info. However, I am wondering about the fact that even the best of golfers bring different swings to the course daily. How can one who is developing their swing/changing their swing benefit from custom fitting? One day I hit straight. The next it's a slice. Then its a draw. I've noted that it's not the club. It's the ned swinging it.

By: clubsthatfit. on 07 Apr 09, 19:16:10 He does a very good job of sketching out the fact that real, thorough custom fitting of all 25 + fitting parameters can make a big impact on a player's game. The details of how it is done, though, can really be impressive. Little things like adjusting swing path by weighting and balancing clubs properly. That can help reduce or eliminate slicing. You only get such details from a clubfitting professional who spends hours with you on the many details that go into really tailoring clubs to you.
