The quality's good too, never had a problem with it and a great range of lenses, so if you're tempted by zoom you could invest in a larger lens than the one that comes in the kit.

It has a tiltable LCD screen and a secondary sensor built inside the chamber so the LCD can be used as a live viewfinder. It also has 14.2 mps and it's a camera that will keep its' value a little longer because of the advanced tech in it.
the d40 has only 6 MPs and while that's enough for small prints, more megapixels means better noise reduction.
The Olympus' have a sensor that is too small and at high ISO they have too much noise for a DSLR.
